Wondering if your Carrot Fertility benefit can be used to pay for birth doula services and postpartum doula services in the Portland, Oregon area? The answer is resounding YES!
Carrot is a workplace benefit offered by some employers to help families cover costs associated with fertility, birth, and postpartum services. We are delighted that Carrot now includes doula services, ensuring that you, your partner, and your baby receive the support, advocacy, and information necessary for more positive birth and postpartum outcomes.
If you have this workplace benefit, please contact your Carrot representative to understand your plan and the limits of coverage. Once you know your total available budget for doula care, you can speak with your doula to create a birth and/or postpartum doula package tailored to fit your coverage. Carrot only reimburses for doulas who meet their requirements for training, certification, experience, and liability insurance. Most of the doulas in our Birth First community meet these requirements.
Using your Carrot benefit to pay for doula services is straightforward. Carrot will reimburse you after the services are complete. Here’s how it works:
- Check Your Benefits: Contact your Carrot representative to discover how much your benefit will cover for doula care and any service limits that may apply.
- Connect with Your Doula: Decide on a birth and/or postpartum doula package with your doula/s that fits within your Carrot budget and service limits.
- Secure Your Doula Care: Sign a contract with your doula/s and pay for the services out-of-pocket.
- Submit Documentation: Your doula will complete the Carrot Attestation Form and provide you with a detailed superbill to submit to Carrot for reimbursement.
- Receive Reimbursement: Once your doula care is completed, Carrot will send you a reimbursement check for the services.
By following these simple steps, you can easily use your Carrot benefits to ensure comprehensive doula support throughout your birth and postpartum journey.
