Krystle Gard, Portland Doula, Birth First Doulas

Krystle Gard, Portland Doula

I entered the birth world after a transformative homebirth in Alaska and has since spent more than 13 years supporting families as a birth doula, postpartum doula, birth assistant, educator, and three-time surrogate. My personal experiences—including raising twins without a support system and later receiving postpartum care herself—solidified my passion for helping families feel supported, confident, and nurtured. With a Chemical Engineering background, I bring an organized, holistic approach to postpartum care, offering both practical help and emotional guidance as families adjust to life with a new baby. Outside of work, I enjoy outdoor adventures with my family and exploring healthy ways to satisfy her sweet tooth.

I offer a nurturing, supportive approach to newborn care through a personalized in-home class designed to guide families confidently into the fourth trimester. Beyond essential skills—such as swaddling, soothing, feeding, and understanding typical newborn behavior—I teach the intuitive art of caring for a baby with calm, connection, and confidence. Each session is tailored to the family’s home and unique needs. I walk through the space to help optimize it for the baby’s arrival, create a thoughtful postpartum plan, provide hands-on practice, and ensure parents leave feeling prepared, supported, and empowered.

Class and postpartum doula topics may include:
• Postpartum planning
• Newborn behavior education
• Lactation & feeding support
• Home organization
• Hands-on practice
• Resource guide
• Simple nourishing recipes

Krystle’s Testimonials

I recently had the pleasure of hiring a Krystle to assist me during the early weeks after giving birth, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the moment she arrived, her warm and nurturing presence put me at ease. She went above and beyond her role by providing not only emotional support but also practical assistance with meals, laundry, and light chores. I am immensely grateful for her support, and I wholeheartedly recommend her services to any new parent in need of both practical and emotional care.
