Kathy McLean, Portland Doula
Ever since I can remember, I’ve loved being around pregnant people and babies. That lifelong passion is what brought me to my calling as a doula. Witnessing transformation of a person into a parent is truly awe-inspiring — a sacred and powerful experience worthy of celebration.
As your doula, my goal is to honor and support you as you connect with your own instincts, empowering you to make confident, informed decisions about your birth and your baby. I’ll be there to offer compassionate encouragement every step of the way, while also supporting your partner so they can fully participate and feel confident throughout the process. Together, we’ll explore the relaxation techniques, physical comfort measures, and emotional supports that feel best for you both. If you wish, we can create a birth plan that reflects your preferences, serving as a gentle guide during your birthing experience.
My role is to help you navigate this journey — celebrating your strength, holding space during moments of uncertainty, and supporting the outcome you hope for. I believe that every family deserves thoughtful, continuous support before, during, and after birth to build a strong foundation for parenthood.
In addition to being a doula and business owner, I’m a proud mom to Maddie and Lucy (who have since flown the nest) and have shared over 35 wonderful years with my charming husband, George. When I’m not working with families, you can find me cooking, reading cookbooks, savoring delicious meals, or out on the golf course — my newest passion.
