Larah Pearson, Portland Doula
Larah is a compassionate postpartum doula serving families in the Portland area. Her approach is rooted in meeting families where they are and offering personalized, non-judgmental support tailored to each family’s unique needs, values and goals. She believes there is no one “right” way to parent and strives to help families build confidence, balance and a sense of calm during the postpartum period.
As a mother to a vibrant pre-teen, Larah has firsthand experience with both the joys and challenges of parenthood. Her early years of motherhood included unexpected hospital stays, periods of solo parenting, and the complexities of co-parenting which were experiences that deeply shaped her empathy and passion for supporting families navigating recovery, limited support systems, addiction as well as mental health challenges.
When Larah gave birth in 2013 she was unaware that postpartum doula support even existed and believed new parents were expected to manage on their own. That experience now fuels her mission: ensuring families know they are not meant to do this alone and that meaningful, compassionate support is available. Her goal is to provide postpartum care in the ways families feel most comfortable receiving it while being their support and coach whenever needed.
Before becoming a postpartum doula Larah spent over 20 years working as a nanny and childcare provider and holds a BA in pre-education. Once introduced to postpartum doula work by a friend, she immediately knew it was the career she had been searching for and began her training shortly thereafter. Today she is grateful to do work she truly loves, feels rewarded by and that makes a tangible difference in families’ lives.
A lifelong night owl, Larah has found her calling providing overnight doula care- supporting families during the hours when rest is most needed. Born and raised in Oregon, she is happily married and part of a blended family with two older children. Outside of work, she values travel, new experiences, and fully savoring life’s moments- bringing that same warmth, energy and presence to the families she serves that she does with her own tight knit family.
