Elana Einstein, Birth First Doulas

Elana Einstein, Portland Doula

As your postpartum doula, I bring a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the joys and challenges of early parenthood. Originally from Israel, I spent nine fulfilling years as a preschool teacher before moving to the United States in 2000. This background has given me a strong foundation in child development and a deep appreciation for the unique needs of growing families. In addition to raising my own three grown children, I am also the proud grandmother of a one-year-old granddaughter.

Beyond my passion for supporting families during the postpartum period, I have a deep love for painting and gardening. These creative outlets bring me immense joy and serve as a source of relaxation and self-expression. I understand the importance of finding balance and self-care, and I encourage you to explore your own passions and hobbies as you navigate the beautiful chaos of parenthood.

Prior to becoming a postpartum doula, I founded and successfully ran my own preschool in southwest Portland for 16 years. This experience provided me with invaluable insights into early education, fostering nurturing environments, and supporting both children and parents. Drawing from this background, I bring a wealth of knowledge and resources to help you create a loving and stimulating environment for your growing family.

As your postpartum doula, my approach is rooted in compassion, respect, and personalized care. I am here to listen to your needs, answer your questions, and provide non-judgmental guidance. Whether it’s assisting with newborn care, offering household support, or simply providing a compassionate ear, I am dedicated to being a reliable and nurturing presence in your life.

I am truly honored to be a part of your postpartum journey and to help you build a strong foundation for your growing family. Together, we will navigate this transformative time with grace, joy, and a deep sense of empowerment.

Elana’s Testimonials

“Elana has been an absolute fairy godmother for our family. She takes initiative and brings such warmth, presence, and knowledge to everything she does. Her nourishing, home-cooked meals were delicious and we looked forward to them everyday. She taught us so much; from how to soothe and truly be with our baby to sharing thoughtful parenting wisdom and child-development insights. We felt supported in every way; she cared for us, our home, and our hearts. We are endlessly grateful for her and look forward to working with her again soon.”

Divya, Portland

“Elana was everything I never knew I needed in the days following birth; gentle, supportive, and beyond helpful. Whether it was keeping us nourished, offering her support with nursing, or looking after our baby, she always knew how to help and always made the most of her time with us. We joke that she is our family’s adopted grandma because she so seamlessly folded into our family during a time of immense transition.”

Ashley, Portland

“Elena felt like the perfect person coming into our lives at the perfect time. She fits into our household so seamlessly. I know our little one is in the best hands with Elena. Every parent wishes they had an extra set of arms, especially at this stage, and Elena was that for me. She allowed me to step away and actually take time for myself, and know my baby was safe, to truly recharge, and come back the best version of myself. She has the most patient, nurturing, and reassuring presence.”

Christie, Portland

“During our postpartum we worked with Elana who was such a joyful, calming, and helpful presence in our home. She helped us over multiple visits and was always proactive and effective in not only completing tasks we asked her to help with but also finding other ways to be helpful. She also taught us so many helpful methods in baby care and breastfeeding. I wish everyone could have an Elana in their life to help them with their transition of bringing a baby home!”
